Last week in meals

Since quarantine began I (or Harry!) have cooked almost every meal. Minus a few — TY Birds of a Feather and Dannee Thai, I love you. The days and meals are starting to flow into the one and I’m beginning to forget what I ate yesterday or even this morning.

In an effort to try remember what I’ve consumed and to be able to reference things I’ve cooked in the future, I’m keeping a running list here.

I know no one else really cares what I ate for breakfast but hopefully maybe some of these things can inspire you when you don’t know what to make.

Monday 4/20 - Tuesday 4/21

Monday and Tuesday were a blur thanks to Quinn’s B-Day and her B-Day zoom party. Drove to Jersey to do a contactless present delivery — vegan cake recipe to come. Then spent the rest of the whole evening on the Zoom. Next day ate 30 meals in snacks and bread and also ordered Thai food.


Wednesday 4/22

Coconut yogurt and cardamom toasted nuts

Lentil salad with greens and snap peas. Tossed boiled french lentils in red wine vinegar, olive oil, mint and blackpepper. Added some arugula and thinly sliced snap peas.

Vegetable and lentil stew with ginger turmeric and lime. Guess thats a lot of lentils for one day oops.


Thursday 4/23

Green smoothie - pineapple, kale, banana, sunflower butter, ginger, lime

Still working with leftover pork from Sunday. (See previous week for details) And think I made my perfect sandwich. Toasted some spiced rye I made a few weeks ago that’s now sliced in the freezer. Topped with greek yogurt, pickled Calabrian chiles, sliced pork, cucumbers, coriander pickled cabbage, mint, dill and olive oil.

Steamed mussels in white wine, green garlic, chile and toasted coriander seeds. Topped with lots of parsley. NY Times seasoned sweet potato fries. Homemade lime aioli for dipping. And a crunchy green salad with little gems, radish and mint.


Friday 4/24

FIRST sourdough discard pancake attempt. Poured discard directly in a hot pan with sesame oil. While cooking topped with chopped herbs, sesame seeds, salt and sumac then flipped. Ate with soft boiled egg and some arugula.

Mixed dough for a seeded sourdough loaf. This one was sesame chia poppy with a lilll turmeric for color.

Smoked trout rice bowls. Marinated smoked trout in miso, sesame oil, lime, tamari and scallions. Made sushi rice and sautéd some tatsoi. Topped the bowls with sliced cucumbers, togarashi seasoning and furikake. Highly recommend having these seasonings in your pantry.


Saturday 4/25

Baked off sourdough loaf

Poached eggs, toast, bacon and second sourdough discard pancake try. This one was cinnamon sugar and butter. Also some strawberries and coconut yogurt cause whyyyyy not.

Snap pea cocktail snack. Cooked them like shishito peppers - charred in sesame oil in a big cast iron. Top with lime, maldon salt and chopped mint.

Five spice roast chicken dinner and coconut crispy rice. All the details here and herrreee.


Sunday 4/26

Avocado toast on turmeric sesame bread with hot sauce and greens.

Snacked on leftovers and and drank spritzes all day :/
